Obituary of James Huber

OBITUARY for newspaper James "Jim" Kenneth Huber passed away in the Lloydminster Hospital on Monday, September 19, 2011 at the age of 65 years after a 20 month hard fought battle with cancer. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia (Coleman), his 3 children and 8 grandchildren: Dwayne (Lori), Brennan & Ashton of Leduc, AB, Darrell (Kerry), Taylor, Brady, Brynn of Leduc, AB, and Gina (Regan Wildeman), Hannah, Emily & Ethan of Lloydminster, AB. He is also survived by sisters Germaine Gosselin, Marjorie Hammerlindl, and brothers John, Philip, Gerald, Rudy, Bill, Melvin, George and David, and their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents Rudolph and Mary, brothers Edward and Carl, and sisters Wilma Hartsook, Laverna Francis and Frances Weber. Jim was born April 10, 1946 in Wilkie, SK and was raised at Scott, SK. He left home at the age of 16 to go to work in the far north, going as far as Inuvik, NWT. He worked in many fields in his life and called himself the jack of all trades but master of none. But we knew he was master of many. He married the love of his life, Pat, on July 20, 1968 and together they raised 3 wonderful children. They lived in Outlook, SK for a short period where Dwayne was born. They then moved to Wilkie in 1969 where Darrell & Gina were born and they raised their family there until their move to Lloydminster in 1991. He was a great dad who didn't teach them everything, just everything that mattered. He was a very hard worker all his life and was never afraid to try something new, and always finished what he started. He was a very passionate competitive person, especially with curling and coaching his childrens' sports, with many accomplishments. He was also passionate about the Wilkie Outlaws and Saskatchewan Roughriders, and enjoyed goose hunting and golfing, among many other things. In his final days he looked forward to his morning coffee with his buddies, and read every daily paper from cover to cover. No matter the situation, he was always able to find humour in almost anything and will be well remembered for his impersonations, one-liners and his ability to give someone a nickname that would last for life. He made many people laugh all his life and particularly his family, right up until his last days. Throughout his entire life, Jim's faith in God played an important role. His quiet faith guided his actions, words and deeds. He never complained about his illness and suffering, knowing it was God's plan. The prayer service for Jim was conducted from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster, on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. with Father Ron Dechant officiating. The eulogy was given by son-in-law, Regan Wildeman. Mass of Christian burial was conducted from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. with celebrant, Father Louis Fowoyo. Leader of beautiful song was Marlene Risling, accompanied by Donna Weston and Mel Risling. Casket bearers were his sons' childhood friends, Trevor Fraess, Mark Fraess, Les Sieben, Miles Sanoy, Derek Yockey and Bruce Yockey. The readings and intentions were read by the grandchildren. Gift bearers were the grandchildren. Interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetary. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. of Lloydminster, AB administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS The family of James Huber would like to thank the doctors, Brenda Servold, and the wonderful nurses at Lloydminster Hospital for all their compassionate and expert care given to him. Thank you also to Fathers Dechant and Fowoyo, Marlene and Mel Risling, Donna Weston, Carmen Nahirney and the pall bearers for their wonderful contributions to the prayer service and funeral. Thanks also to the Anglican Church for use of the hall and the CWL for the lovely lunch. As well we so appreciate all the prayers and acts of kindness by so many people who shared in his life.
