EULOGY
Bill was born at Lloydminster on December 26, 1929. He took his schooling at Trafalgar out where he lived east and south of Lloydminster. Only the school was east and north of Lloydminster. He took one year of High School in Lloydminster. He spent four years in Air Cadets and 16 years with the local militia until they closed down in 1970. He also worked various jobs and farmed as well. In 1971, he met Frances Allen marrying June 26, 1971. Frances had two daughters, Connie and Margaret, from a previous marriage. Bill became an instant Father. He used to say he got a ready-made family. The girls were happy too, as now they had a Dad like the other kids.
As time went on they left homeConnie in 1983 and Margaret in 1988. Margaret had a daughter in 1988 so he became a Grandpa which again was just his cup of tea!
Bill was very community-minded and was involved in many different organizations such as the Royal Canadian Legion. In fact, he was one who pushed for the new hall and his dream became a reality. He also belonged to the Canadian Order of Foresters, now known as The Independent Order of Foresters as well as many others.
Bill loved animals. The neighbors across the road on the farm could never keep a dog at home. It always had to come see Bill; the grass was greener there and the food tasted better.
Bill loved hunting, fishing, , ball, hockey and most other sports. Many times would see him sitting on a chair in the doorway between the kitchen and living room listening to hockey in the kitchen and watching baseball on TV in the living room. He played hockey on a Seniors team called the Neversweats.
Bill also loved cards, especially cribbage. Many times he could be found at the Legion on an afternoon engaged in a game of crib. In 1999, Bill sold to Husky Oil and he and Frances moved to town.
The biggest thing he liked about town life was no more driving to the Post office for the mail, as it was delivered right to your door. Wow! Due to failing health, Bill moved to the Jubilee Home in 2002 where he resided until his passing. Bill had a Big heart and was sometimes too big as some took advantage of this. Rest in peace Bill, your suffering is done.
