BIOGRAPHY MAWDSLEY: John Stewart Mawdsley , known to his friends and family as Stu, passed away at his home on July 27, 2006. He was born in Lashburn to Henry and Mollie (Mary) Mawdsley on September 22, 1927. Stu leaves to mourn two brothers, Ed (Velma) Mawdsley of Lashburn, Dennis Mawdsley of Burnaby, BC; one sister, Joe of North Vancouver and numerous nieces and nephews. Stewart was predeceased by his parents, two sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, three uncles: Peter, Bill and John, one aunt Maggie and one cousin, Nora Earnshaw. Stewart moved to Creston, BC with his parents in 1935, then on to Vancouver a few years later. When he was 14 years old, he came back to live with his uncles and went out working for farmers at a young age. Later, he bought some land and farmed with his brother, Ed. When Stu quit farming, he bought a house in Lashburn. He helped all of his nieces and nephews to ride a bike. He would hold the seat and guide them until they knew how to balance it! Stu enjoyed shuffle board at the senior home and bowling every Tuesday. He spent many winters in Vancouver with his brother’s and sister’s family. One of our friends said that Stewart was a plain, honest, hard-working individual. We will all miss you, Stu. The memorial service for Stu was conducted from the All Saints Anglican Church, Lashburn, Saskatchewan on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend David Turvey officiating. Hymns sung were “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross”, accompanied on the organ by Lorna Chappell. The Lashburn Community Choir also was in attendance. McCaw Funeral Service of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks The families of Stu Mawdsley would like to thank everyone who helped, sent us cards, flowers, and donations. Special thank you goes to Reverend David Turvey for the service, organist Lorna Chappell, the Lashburn Community Choir and to all who helped prepare and serve lunch at the Drop-In Centre. A very special thank you to McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., for the care and compassion in our time of sorrow. Donations in memory of Stu may be made to the donor's charity of choice.
