Emile Joseph Boyer August 4, 1925 Emile was born in Cochin, Saskatchewan into a large family of 12 children, him being the third oldest. He enjoyed a busy childhood in which he often talked about skating, swimming and helping with the chores, but his favorite stories were about him fishing and hunting with his uncle MAC. Emile left home and entered the army at the age of 17. While visiting Lloydminster with some friends he met the love of his life ... Margaret and a few short months later they were married on August 26, 1944, Emile was 19 years old then. Two days later Emile was shipped overseas for two and a half years. While Emile was on duty Margaret bought a farm and was busy making it a home. Emile arrived to a new farmstead with seven cows and it wasn’t long when Amy their first daughter was born much to their delight, but it would be short lived. Amy took ill and died at the small age of just two and a half years old. Emile and Margaret then moved to Lloydminster and there they started a new family first Mayme Ann then Edward was born. Emile worked at the elsro asphalt plant and eventually went to work for Husky Oil and stayed there for 20 years until he retired. But in the meantime Emile and Margaret bought their first house in Lloyd and then ... 11 years after Mayme was born and 7 years after Edward was born and along Gerard came. The family was complete ... or was it? Carmalita came from the Phillippines and quickly became a member of the Boyer family, the sister to Mayme that she never had. There were several Philippine women that Emile and Margaret sponsored and became Mom and Dad to. Emile had the privilege of giving his new daughters away at their wedding too. There were a lot of people (too many to mention) that passed through the Boyer home that needed help in their lives and Emile and Margaret treated them all the same ... like family... always giving always caring. In 1972 Emile and Margaret bought 10 acres of land 10 miles north of Lloyd and there they built their dream home. They really loved it there, Emile called it “God’s ten acres.” He planted fruit trees and pine trees and the biggest Garden you ever seen. Everyone that came to visit always left with something from that garden. Emile enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking berries, cutting wood, but he especially loved working in his garden. The fall was the busiest time for him chopping and stacking wood, bringing in the harvest from the garden. He worked hard and diligently at it. Baking and canning were done by both Emile and Margaret, something they loved to do together. They made sure that all the kids pantries were well stocked with canned goods and baked goodies. After a busy day Emile always found time to go dancing. He was quite often the first on the dance floor and the last one off. He and Margaret loved to listen to Herman play the fiddle and hear Dean sing, they loved a good party, family gatherings and lots of fun. Emile had a big heart for giving of himself. He loved to help and always saw a need in other people. He and Margaret would often visit the lonely and sick praying for them and giving words of encouragement. When someone was moving he was the first one there and was dubbed by his family as Loius the mover. He worked very hard in the restaurant Mayme and I had washing dishes, sweeping floors, polishing the pots so clean we didn’t want to use them again. When Emile did something he always did it 100%. As a retirement job he was a commissionaire where he worked at the mall. He said he enjoyed it because he got to tell a lot of the young people about Jesus. But Emile’s family was his greatest pride and joy. He enjoyed raising his children and spoiling his grandchildren. If you ever needed a babysitter you could get him day or night. He always had lots of treats and ice cream on hand for the kids and always told them stories about the love of the Lord. Emile loved his wife with a Godly love. He honored her, cherished her, spoiled her and cared for her. She was his first love from the moment he saw her to the day of his death and it will continue on through eternity.
